MUSIC REVIEW: ‘AARAKSHAN’ SOUNDTRACK

Socio-Political Film Features a Soundtrack with a Pair of Steamy, Powerful Tunes

Rajneeti director Prakash Raj brings another star-studded Bollywood film with a strong socio-political bent in Aarakshan, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, and Deepika Padukone. Touching upon the sensitive issue of India’s caste system, government jobs, and education, Aarakshan opens worldwide on August 12th. Its soundtrack hits the streets first and is helmed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and featured the vocals of Mohit Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, and Shankar Madhavan, among others.

With six tracks featured on the soundtrack, the music of Aarakshan is enjoyable and easy to listen to, but, with the exception of “Kaun Si Dor” and “Saans Albeli,” is nothing different than has been heard of before in a Bollywood album. Still, the two aforementioned tracks are so epic that the overall value of the entire soundtrack is elevated.

Movie Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Deepika Padukone, Prateik Babbar, Shabana Azmi, Tanvi Azmi, Hema Malini, Chetan Pandit, Mukesh Tiwari, Yashpal Sharma, Darshan Jariwala
