How does it feel to be a married man? It’s a wonderful feeling being married to the person I spent 10 years getting to know and falling in love with.
Genelia is the most perfect woman I have met and the ideal life partner. I am looking forward to spending many joyful years married to her.
How did the two of you get along on the set during the making of TNLHG?
This was the seven-year itch because we’re working together again after seven years. We entered movies together as newcomers and have learnt so much together.
It was an absolute pleasure working with someone I know so well. Genelia and I are compatible with each other professionally as much as we are in our personal lives. A lot of the chemistry we share has helped to develop our characters as well as the love story of the film.
The soundtrack features a variety of music genres, from romantic to dance. What are your favourites?
All the songs on the album are great. They also have this beautiful romantic touch to it which makes it so much more likeable.
My personal favourite is Piya O Re Piya, sung by Atif Aslam and Shreya Ghoshal.
We had so much fun shooting this song and it definitely is a special song for Genelia and me.
You’re famous for playing the comical character in movies. Does this role follow along the lines of your previous roles?
I have done serious roles as well in Bardaasht, Naach, etc, but comedy has become sort of a credible forté for me in Bollywood today.
I enjoy playing a comical character.
This time around it is a character with comedic timing similar to a Dhamaal or Housefull, so there’s a lot of humour to expect, even though there is a love story which surfaces.
It was also different to play a Hariyani (Punjab) guy, so I get to use the accent, which was absolute fun.
The way the film is directed does complete justice to the humour and romance of the film.
What can we expect next from you after the release of Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya?
Housefull 2 will be my next release in April. After that there will be another comedy, Kyaa Super Cool Hai Hum, with Tusshar Kapoor and Bipasha Basu.
Describe TNLHG in a few words?
It’s a complete roller-coaster fun-ride. Hopefully, the audience will fall in love with the couple who fall in love.
You have some fond memories of working in South Africa in the past. What message would you like to share with your fans here?
I love South Africa and the people there. I shot extensively in your country for my movie Cash and have also spent a lot of time in Cape Town and Joburg.
I have not been to Durban yet, but heard so much about the city from Amitabh Bachchan, so would like to use any opportunity to go there and experience the place.
