Besides keeping the box office registers ringing, Milan Luthria’s The Dirty Picture and Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara bagged a number of awards at the 18th Colors Screen Awards this year. Ekta Kapoor’s home production The Dirty Picture, a biopic on southern siren Vijayalaxmi, popularly known as Silk Smitha, bagged six awards including the best film and best director Milan Luthria.
Actress Vidya Balan bagged the best actress award for her sizzling performance in The Dirty Picture, while the best playback singer female award was given to Shreya Ghoshal for her foot tapping number ‘Ohh La La’. Rajat Arora got the best dialogue award for The Dirty Picture and designer Niharika Khan and Moin got the best costume award for dressing up the voluptuous Vidya Balan.
The best film award was shared by Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which went on to bag awards for best dialogue – Farhan Akhtar and Javed Akhtar, best ensemble cast – Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin. Bosco-Caesar got the best choreography award for ‘Senorita’ from this film.
The Lifetime Achievement award was given to legendary playback singer Asha Bhosale. While Ranbir Kapoor bagged the best actor award for Rockstar, Saif Ali Khan’s portrayal of a Dalit got him the best supporting actor’s award for Aarakshan. Aditi Rao Hydari walked away with the best supporting actress trophy for her role in Ye Saali Zindagi. Priyanka Chopra was given the best actress award for her negative role in Saat Khoon Maaf and Prashant Narayan got the best actor in negative role award for Murder 2.
The awards night also saw breathtaking performances by superstar Shahrukh Khan, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, Katrina Kaif, Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma. The awards were hosted by Shahrukh in different segments with Madhuri, Vidya and Katrina.
