Ganesh Chaturthi: Bollywood celebrates!

Mumbai:  Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur reached Lalbaugh to offer prayers to Lord Ganesha before the immersion and says it was the world’s most exciting place to be, while Shabana Azmi recalled that the Ganapathi festival, which concluded Sunday, formed a big part of her childhood.

The celebrities expressed their views on Twitter and here is what they had to say:

Shekhar Kapur: “Mingling with millions waiting for Ganpathy at Laulbagh, drinking the energy of faith and community. Dancing to throbbing celebrations Ganpathy at Laulbagh. The worlds most exciting place to be right now.”

Remebering her childhood days Shabana Azmi wrote: “Last Visarjan today. Ganpati celebrations form a big part of my childhood memories in Girgaum. visiting Sarvajanik Mandals. Gangajamuni tehzeeb.”

Kabir Bedi: “Ganapati Visarjan final day! I’ll be joining crowds on Juhu Beach to celebrate the countless immersions of brilliantly coloured Ganeshas,” he posted.

Juhi Chawla: “Folks at our building green acres doing visarjan in the traditional way… Ganpati on a cart drawn by two handsome white bullocks and drums.”

Pooja Bedi: “Last day of Ganpati visarjan! The processions, music, drumming dancing on streets has begun! So has the rain! Its all quite magical!!”

Singer Shreya Ghosal: “Wish u a happy Sunday. I m locking myself in at home. Big visarjan day. Ganapati bappa!! .. Morya. Feel sad everytime Ganeshtotsav comes to an end. The city goes back to being hectic and ruthless. Will miss the euphoria that Ganeshji brings with him.”
